Today we welcomed Karen into the Touretteshero family. Karen, who arrived in the UK on Friday from Costa Rica, is the fiancée of Brother Olly – a frequent visitor to the lair. Olly is Harry’s brother, not to be confused with her boyfriend Ollie. As Karen speaks very little English I was concerned about how I was going to explain my behaviour to her. Then I remembered that I had a Spanish translation of the information on my Tourettes ID card that a friend of mine had prepared in anticipation of a trip abroad. This proved useful because Brother Olly had been trying to explain to Karen what to expect, without much success. To keep the visit inclusive, Brother Olly taught me some of my tics in Spanish. I think “Adios” might stick.
