This evening I had to take the bus home. Two young men got on and sat behind me at the back. They were soon having a conversation about me and Tourettes:

Youth 1: She’s one of those people who can’t control what they say.
Youth 2: I saw a programme about that, the brain’s a very delicate thing.
Youth 1: It’s the engine that drives you.
Youth 2: You can see it’s driving her.

I’d have liked to talk to them about it, they seemed genuinely thoughtful, but the bus was busy and they got off shortly afterwards.
