I travelled in the rush hour tonight. I’ve mentioned before how quiet commuter trains can be and today was no exception. The train was packed and everybody was travelling alone so there was no friendly chatter – just my squawks echoing through the carriage:

I’ve just watched The Fog by John Carpenter with Leftwing Idiot. I don’t cope well with horrors of any sort because suspense and excitement tend to make my tics over react.

Despite the fact that he had me pretty comprehensively pinned down, Leftwing Idiot still stopped the film fifteen minutes in and said, “Seriously, are you going to be able to cope with this?”…

I went out for a meal this evening with a bunch of friends and when we’d finished eating I popped to the toilet. As I sat down I realised the cubicle had just been painted with red gloss paint. Seconds later I head-butted the wall.…

I finished work late tonight and arrived home tired and wet. I’d been invited out by Ruth and was meant to be meeting her in Camden. But I hadn’t been able to find anyone to come with me and didn’t feel like making the long journey by bus and tube without help.…

The rain was thumping down as I walked along Brixton high street and the traffic was crawling. The street was crowded and lots of people were staring nervously at me. I ignored them and squawked on by. A passing cyclist, weaving though the traffic wearing a fluorescent waterproof, shouted out to some anxious pedestrians, “Don’t be scared, she’s only got Tourettes.”

On my way to meet Laura and Hannah this evening I was stopped in the street by a man who asked me if I had Tourettes. When I said yes he said, “In that case I’ve got the cure.” He then offered to sell me some Cannabis, which I politely declined.…

I’ve mentioned in a previous post that as a child I had a biting tic. I mainly bit myself but sometimes other people. A few years ago it resurfaced briefly with a slight twist – I’d bite the skin on the back of my hand and tug on it.…

I had an appointment earlier with a new Tourettes specialist who’ll be taking over my care. I took Fat Sister, who’s a doctor, with me. This was extra useful because, after the meeting, we were able to talk things though from a medical as well as sibling perspective.…

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been singing my, “I’m a baby” song. The full lyrics are:

Bank a baby.”

This has been amusing many of my friends, particularly Leftwing Idiot who sings along.…

The organisation I work for runs three different projects. This means I’ve got lots of keys. I regularly need to show people – important funders or partners for example – around the projects, and that means a lot of unlocking and locking of doors.…
