The Tourettes crazy language machine swung into a frenzy this evening to the tune of “If you’re happy and you know it.” All these tics occurred in the first half hour and then I repeated them full blast for several hours:

“Norma Major’s in your mouth, take a bite.”…

When my chest-banging tic first started a while ago my chest bruised really badly and it was incredibly painful after the first few weeks. But then the bruising faded even though the tic hadn’t changed. It was as if my body just couldn’t be bothered to maintain the bruise anymore.…

I‘ve had a lovely lazy Sunday evening. King Russell made a curry from scratch and Leftwing Idiot, Harry and Ollie joined us to eat it. I sat and entered some of my tics into the database, absorbing the chatter around me at the same time.…

Years ago I bought a small wooden meerkat. I got it because I thought having something specific to fiddle with might help me manage my tics. It didn’t help much but I became quite fond of it. I liked to keep it in my pocket, despite the fact that I started to use it as a weapon and poked myself with it when I ticced.…

Not an actual SOS, this. It’s just that I’ve spent too much time with King Russell who would speak entirely in binary code if he had the chance.

It’s been a frustrating day at work mainly because we don’t have enough space for the whole team so I’ve been moving between desks constantly. This is partly because the building is being redeveloped, with all the individual offices being transformed into one massive open plan space with space for 150 people.…

The group included a couple of people I’d worked with for years in other settings and considered close friends, as well as people I hadn’t met before.…

Last October the shower broke at the lair. Since then I’ve had a series of tics pointing the finger at possible culprits (including King Russell, which I’ve mentioned before).

It broke again, for the third time, this morning.

I was in town this afternoon and went into a newsagent to buy some batteries. They were kept behind the counter so I joined the queue of waiting customers. While standing in line I started to say “Worming my way into your soul.”…
