Poppy makes the amazing padded gloves that stop my hands getting mashed up by my tics. Today it was her turn to get padded. Right at the beginning of a film we were watching there was a fight scene and each time someone got punched I ticced and hit Poppy. She laughed and said, ‘If I’m going to get thumped each time someone does on the screen, maybe we shouldn’t watch a boxing film.’

We quickly solved the problem by building a padded wall of cushions between us to soften the blows.
