NOSI, stands for Non-Obscene Socially Inappropriate behaviour. This might be making remarks about someone’s height or weight for example. It can be a feature of Tourettes although it’s not something that’s generally a problem for me.

This evening I encountered a shopkeeper whose comments would definitely come into the NOSI category, although as far as I’m aware there was no neurological explanation and he was just being rude.…

The volunteer coordinator from SDA came to visit again today. She’s going to find a volunteer to go swimming with me. But first she wanted to try walking with me herself so she had a better idea of what was involved.…

This morning I had my needs assessed by a social worker from the Physical Disabilities Team. She was friendly, listened carefully and took time to understand my situation. It was a relief to talk about the impact my tics have on my life with someone who could provide resources to help.…

During Easter playscheme a child I work with pinched one of my gloves and took it home. He’s been promising to return it ever since. Today, at last he did, freshly laundered by his mum.

My leg tics mean I walk in a way that looks quite unusual and dramatic and I frequently drop to the floor. Surprisingly, very few people who see this ask if I’m OK. I suspect this is because either I don’t look fazed by it or because the screeching noises and jerky movements of my tics put people off approaching.…

It looks like another lovely day outside – I’m in the lair doing some organising and packing in preparation for the move in a few weeks. Leftwing Idiot and his dad are coming to help me in a bit.

I keep thinking about going to the river or seeing an exhibition later after we’ve finished, but I would need help to do this.…

I’ve already written about my recent flurry of sung tics. Most of the time I pay little attention to the constant noises I make, but every now and again I say something that really makes me smile, and even feel pleased to have said it.…

I shocked Leftwing Idiot and Poppy earlier by ticcing, “Say what you see,” followed by the name of the things in the room they were looking at:

“Say what you see Poppy, light switch,” etc.

What freaked them out was that I wasn’t even in the same room, and my tics still managed to get it right.
