Opening Up
This morning the Daily Mail published an extract form my new book, Welcome to Biscuit Land, which is being published next week. Today’s the first time any of it has been seen outside this website. Seeing my words in the paper was exhilarating, but nerve-racking as well.
The book’s based on this blog, and on here I’m very used to sharing my experiences, as well as my thoughts and feelings about living with Tourettes. I post every day, but I never really know if anyone’s reading it (other than by my mum – I know she checks for new posts several times a day. Hello mum!). In the beginning I thought it was important not to dwell on who might be reading because if I thought about it too much I’d get self-conscious and write less honestly.
Today, the fact that my life and thoughts are now available to everyone, finally hit home. But although initially seeing my words in print made me feel a bit nervous, this feeling soon gave way to excitement.
Thank you to everyone who’s been in touch today. The support and encouragement I’ve had from both friends and strangers has given me a big boost. I’m looking forward to next week and to introducing many more new people to my strange and biscuity world.

My dad just sent me a link about you and good morning, america. I told him I’d been following you for about a year on the blog and about your new book. Congratulations! I’m so glad to see Tourette’s getting some positive and factual publicity.
