Over the last year the Government has introduced a huge number of damaging policies that target disabled people. These’ve seen spending on support for disabled people slashed, schemes and services abolished, hard won equalities thrown away, and disabled people vilified and subjected to poorly thought out and inhumane assessments.…

On Saturday night Leftwing Idiot, Poppy, Fat Sister, King Russell and I went out for a drink near the castle. It seems that lots of other people had the same idea and the bars of Peckham were heaving with people.

I’ve lived in this area for almost fifteen years and don’t feel things have changed that much.…

It’s my birthday on Sunday, so on Saturday I’m celebrating with a party at the castle. Poppy and I were talking about it last night and she asked who was coming. My tics responded by revealing this rather unusual guest list:

“All the Romans”
“Chopin”
“The dog from Beethoven”
“Carol Vorderman”
“Some 19th century Egyptian monks”
“The little dog from The Mask”
“A catnip salesman from Istanbul”

In addition I explained that

“I’ve invited some lamp-posts as well.”…

A few weeks ago, when Leftwing Idiot, Poppy and I were hanging out at the castle, Leftwing Idiot rested his head on top of Poppy’s. To the surprise of us all, this made me squeal with glee. I shouted excitedly that they looked like a totem pole, so they immediately started making totem-pole-esque poses that led to even more gleeful squealing and flapping from me.…

A long time before this site went live Leftwing Idiot described me as a ‘Crazy language-generating machine’ and told me it’d be a real waste not to make imaginative use of my tics. It took a while but eventually I came to see how this could work, using them as a springboard for creativity.…

Last night Poppy and I were hanging out at Leftwing Idiot’s and while we were all in the living room deciding what to watch, my tics started berating yet another inanimate object in his flat.

The focus of their attention this time was a pile of four books under the sofa which are there to stop it sagging too much in the middle.…

I’ve mentioned previously the buzzer I keep strapped to my hand while I’m asleep so I can raise the alarm if I have a ‘ticcing fit’ during the night. I’ve also mentioned the recent reoccurrence of my face-hitting tic. Sometime in the early hours of this morning these two things came together, and I was woken suddenly by the buzzer hitting me smartly in head just above my eye.…

A couple of weeks ago Poppy chuckled at something on her computer and said, ‘You should get Jim’ll Paint It to do one of your tics.’ I hadn’t heard of Jim’ll Paint It so she showed me his Facebook page, and I was blown away.…

Yesterday King Russell, Fat Sister and I had a BBQ at the castle, the first this year. With Fat Sister’s help I made myself a suitably refreshing beverage – apple juice with lime and mint.

What’s particularly remarkable about this is that for the first time in years I was able drink from a normal glass.…
