If you search online for ‘Tourettes Theatre’, many of the top results are articles about people being asked to leave theatres or sit somewhere else because they’ve got Tourettes – something I’ve had first-hand experience of.

I love the theatre, but for many years I was put off going for fear of negative reactions to my tics. But in the last year or so I’ve become much more confident about seeing live performances, and I’ve been made very welcome by venues and performers alike. I’ve seen some inspiring shows, and this eventually got me thinking… what would a Touretteshero show be like?

Well, I’m about to find out because now We Forgot The Lot! is safely behind us, our next big creative adventure is Backstage In Biscuit Land, an hour-long show exploring spontaneity, creativity and disability. So expect ticcing, singing, stand-up, story-telling and things you never imagined would make you laugh. No two shows can ever be the same, but it’ll certainly be the most biscuity theatre ever!

Over the next few months I’ll be experimenting and developing ideas for the show with the help of Leftwing Idiot, puppeteer Jess Mabel Jones, and our producer Jolie Booth. And in August I’ll be performing it for two weeks at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

I’m ready for this new challenge: the team’s in place, the venue’s booked, and I’ve got loads of ideas. But to do it all justice we need to raise some money, and that’s where I’m hoping you’ll be able to help.

Today we submitted our Backstage In Biscuit Land Kickstarter appeal. Kickstarter’s a crowd-funding website that’s already enabled loads of amazing projects to happen. I’m hoping that with your help our Edinburgh show will be on their roll call of successes.

We’re aiming to raise £6000 to cover the cost of taking the show to the Fringe. I’m hoping you’ll be able to contribute if you can, and spread the word amongst your friends and family too. In order to get the money pledged, we have to hit or exceed our target in just 30 days, so please tell everyone you can about this exciting project.

We’ll hear back from Kickstarter in a matter of days once they’ve checked out our appeal. As soon as that happen I’ll write another post to let you know. In the mean time, if you think of anyone who might be able to help us straight away, please send me an email.
