Linguist-Tics
A few weeks ago I got a very interesting email from Felix Peckitt, a student, poet, programmer and fellow ticcer. He got in touch to tell me about some investigations he’d been carrying out using the thousands of my vocal tics.…

I got back to the castle yesterday to a lovely surprise – the geranium was flowering.
And mine isn’t the only one – I’ve heard rumour of other geraniums in bud. So I’ve decided it’s time to check in on the many off-shoots of Leftwing Idiot’s original that are now scattered amongst friends and family across the country.…
Late last night we got back to our hotel after an amazing performance of Backstage in Biscuit Land in Norwich, our biggest audience to date. I was seriously tired but happy too. Innes helped me get to bed and I fell asleep quickly.…
I’ve just come off stage after a phenomenal show to a packed house at the Norwich Playhouse. As always the wonderful Chopin was there with me, but tonight British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter Martin (my tics initially introduced him as our ‘stripper’) was also on stage.…
Back in January I wrote about news of a possible biscuit shortage due to flooding in the North of England. Sure enough over the following months our attention’s been repeatedly drawn to the Biscuit crisis.
It now seems that another shortage is looming, and this time it’s one in which I’ve had a direct hand.…
We’re now in the fourth week of our UK tour of Backstage In Biscuit Land, the stage show I’m taking to theatres across the country, and today we were in Grays, Essex.
Because I’m one of the 10% of people with Tourettes who have rude tics, and because the show contains some adult themes, we have a suggest age warning that goes out in advance to all venues.…

For a moment I was intrigued, trying to decide if I liked it.…
Innes and I popped to the supermarket earlier today. We were moving methodically up and down the aisles when I realised I’d forgotten to pick something up from one we’d already been down. Innes went off to find the missing item and I carried on browsing.…
Hot on the heels of our UK tour, we’re excited to announce that from this May we’ll be taking Backstage in Biscuit Land to the USA and Canada!
This is a great chance for us to bring the show to brand new audiences and share our message that making theatre inclusive makes it better for everyone.…
Yesterday morning I woke up after a much-needed sleep. It was 10am and I was really impressed that I’d slept so late, something I never normally do. The sun was pouring through a crack in my blind and my tics began happily chatting to the light, complimenting it on its good work:
“Light, you’re more dazzling than a thousand rainbows in sequin pyjamas.”…
