“’Draw a Biscuit’ Said Picasso To The Wolf”
It’s the first day of October which means it’s also the first day of Inktober. This is a creative initiative started by artist Jake Parker back in 2009 in an attempt to improve his drawing skills. The idea was simple: 31 days, 31 drawings.
He invited artists all over the world to take on the Inktober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day for the entire month and posting it to their social media accounts with the hashtag #inktober. Since then it’s grown and now thousands of people across the world take part each year.
To celebrate the beginning of Inktober our amazing illustrator Amber Anderson has created this drawing inspired by the tic: “’Draw a biscuit’ said Picasso to the wolf.”.
Making space to be creative each day has become crucial to my wellbeing. Anyone can be an artist and Inktober is a great way to get started. If you’d like to get involved and are looking for inspiration there are over 6000 of my tics on this site. I share them so they can become springboards for people’s creativity. Some of my favourites include:
“Imagine you’re a pigeon in a leotard of hope.”
“I’m painting a rainbow on your forehead, Sky.”
And
“’Draw a biscuit’ said Picasso to the wolf.”
To get started, browse my tics. You can search by theme or key word, or you can choose the random selection button. Find a tic that inspires you, use your imagination to create your artwork, and then share it with us by uploading it to the gallery. You can find out more about how to do this here. Some of my tics are rude but you can hide these by turning on the SafeMode.
What you choose to create is totally up to you and it could be a drawing, painting, photo, illustration, or a mix of everything. If you’re sharing it on social media don’t forget the hastags: #inktober and #dailyoutburst.
One of the most exciting parts of Touretteshero for me is seeing new images arrive – I can’t wait to see what new additions Inktober might inspire.
