World of the Zodiac - Sagittarius
Quick as a flash another month has passed, and once again it’s time to get mystic with a Tourettes-enriched horoscope. So, Sagittarians, here at long last are your predictions for the year. I hope you enjoy hearing what the stars have in store.
I thought in addition to words of wisdom I’d also offer you a vision of the future. So, as a taste of things to come, here’s a lovely marmoset, an illuminated donkey and a bottle of your favourite shampoo.
Take care when knitting those Christmas presents and applying the wart cream.
Join me in another month when it’ll be the turn of Capricorns to discover their destinies.
Please share this important and potentially life changing information with you friends, your family and your cats.

Hi TH
I have a question that may come across as a bit sceptical; please know that it isn’t meant to be, and it is something I genuinely want to understand.
Basically, in your interviews and speeches (such as the TEDx one), you speak very fluidly, albeit with the addition of lots of biscuits, but the more elaborate tics only show up once or twice. Conversely, in videos such as the Zodiac series, your tics seem to run wild, most of them far more bizarre than ‘biscuit’. Additionally, in the TEDx video, when you’re not talking (during the music), your tics seem to become more frequent.
I’m wondering if you are able to suppress your more complex tics when you’re giving speeches or interviews, or if part of the Zodiac stuff is your own sense of humour with Tourettes "improvising" over the top (so to speak). The reason mentioned the music in TEDx video is I wondered whether your increase in ticcing was due to a lapse in suppression (since you didn’t have to talk), or whether the music itself was causing an increase in the tics.
I hope that made sense!

Your question makes a lot of sense and I’ll answer it in two parts.
Firstly, when I’m really concentrating on something, like remembering a speech or answering a question, my tics do reduce in complexity and sometimes frequency. For me this isn’t deliberate conscious suppression but a more subtle automatic suppression.
I sometimes feel like my tics go into a ‘standby mode’ where they become simple and repetitive. Interestingly, this also happens when I’m going to sleep or having a ‘ticcing fit’. After periods of concentration or suppression I find that my tics are likely to be a bit more frequent or forceful.
Secondly, in terms of the horoscopes and other creative videos, I let my tics run wild in these and improvise bits in between in response to what they’ve said. These videos are also edited so aren’t necessarily an exact record of my tics. You can read a bit more about the process of these more creative pieces in this post: http://www.touretteshero.com/2013/08/14/thought-for-the-day/
I hope this answers your question.
