I was back at Channel 4 yesterday, doing more scripting for tonight’s continuity announcements. I’m going to be on, trying not to press the wrong buttons, from 8pm. While Leftwing Idiot grappled with the computer system they use for scripting and scheduling I talked to Dom, one of their regular continuity announcers, who was very friendly and helped us through the process.

I’m getting into the swing of things now and so are my tics, suggesting extra lines and unusual ways of phrasing things. With their additional input all the scripts came together fairly easily.

One perk of the job is being allowed to watch shows before they go out. This enables announcers to sound as if they know what they’re talking about! To my surprise and excitement, one of tonight’s programmes starts with several close-ups of delicious biscuits. But I’m not going to tell you which one. You’ll just have to tune in tonight from 8pm.
