A Board Beginning
I woke up naturally this morning, with no alarm bursting into my dreams and jump-starting my day.
I opened the blind so I could see what the weather had in store. The sky was dull grey with a tiny flash of blue on the horizon.…

Something shocking has occurred.
My geranium is very ill – it may even be dying.
This has happened completely unexpectedly. A week ago both the geranium and the pepper plant that sits next to it were thriving.
Then they suddenly started to wilt.…
Innes and I popped to the supermarket earlier today. We were moving methodically up and down the aisles when I realised I’d forgotten to pick something up from one we’d already been down. Innes went off to find the missing item and I carried on browsing.…
My friend Anna, her sister Christina, and her daughter Neva, who’s just over a year old, came to visit this afternoon. They’d brought some toys with them including one that was a bit like a marble run – but instead of marbles, small cars careered down the chutes.…
A few weeks ago someone from The Guardian got in touch asking if I’d be up for making a video for them. They’d seen my interview on Russell Howard and thought I might have an interesting perspective to share.
While I was wondering what to talk about I had a conversation with a boy at the playground where I work that got me thinking.…
Last night I had a lovely night out at a pub in Brixton celebrating Bunny’s birthday. Just after 11pm the floor was cleared to make room for dancing.
I did a fair bit of furniture moving of my own, in order to create my ideal dancing environment.…
When I was invited to go on Russell Howard’s Good News and talk about my life with Tourettes, l had no idea it would be so much fun. And I could never have predicted how overwhelming and warm the response would be.…
A few weeks ago I read an incredible blog post by Sophia, a young woman with Tourettes, on the ten things she’d like you to know about the condtion.
I thought it was brilliant, so I asked Sophia if she’d consider writing a guest post.…
My support worker Will has a well-established history of playful interactions with my tics. He was with me today, and at lunchtime in a local café I noticed him playing with a pound coin. I looked away for a moment and when I looked back I saw he’d wedged the coin into his eye as if it was a monocle!…
Earlier this week the Touretteshero Twitter account reached 8000 followers – a milestone.
I don’t normally focus much on numbers of followers, but I really do like counting random things, just to know how many random things there are! For example there are:
202 trefoil logos on my socks right now
172 triangles on Will’s bear jumper
and 83 leaves on the geranium
One reason I keep an eye on my Twitter followers is the strange sibling rivalry I have with @TicBot, our friendly Twitter-bot who automatically regularly tweets a selection of my 6236 tics.…
